One day, when Patti awakened, she saw something on the lap of her teddy bear. It was a note addressed to her. Patti reached for the note and saw that it had her name at the top. To: Patti Ann Ruthison .. It also had her address. 11649 S.E. 95th Place, Los Angeles, California

Patti turned over the note and it read. "Because you are such a special person, Patti, you are invited to attend the Teddy Bear Fair today. This is an honor given to only one child each year." "A note like this one has also been sent to your Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad will meet you at 11:00 am, right here in your room."

Patti quickly dressed and sat on the edge of her bed and stared at her teddy bear. Shortly before 11:00 am, Patti heard the voice of Mom at her door. "Patti, may I come in?" asked Mom. "I am supposed to meet you now for something special," said Mom. "Come in!" Patti said with excitement inher voice.

As they were all gathered in Patti's room, something amazing happened. Patti's teddy bear began to talk! Mom and Dad were even more surprised than Patti. "We must hurry now!" exclaimed the teddy bear. "Patti, please pick me up and hold me," continued Patti's teddy bear.
